Jody Voss is vice president, Strategic Business Services for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), a national federation of 37 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. The Blue System is the nation's largest health insurer covering nearly 100 million – one-in-three of all Americans. It is the largest single processor of Medicare claims in the nation, and holds the world's largest privately underwritten health insurance contract – the 5.2 million-member Federal Employee Program (FEP).
Voss has overall responsibility for the development and implementation of business initiatives designed to increase healthcare affordability and quality, leveraging the collective strength of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. In her role, Voss is responsible for the Group Purchasing Organization, directing national strategic vendor partnerships across the Blue System.
In other areas of business expansion and program and product development, which includes international business, she leveraged the collective strength of The Blues® by facilitating the recapitalization of an international business solution as a Blue asset. She oversaw development of Blue Health Intelligence, a national Blue System health information data warehouse containing health information on more than 50 million consumers insured by the Blues. It is the nation’s largest health information knowledge and analytical research capability.
Most recently, Voss’s responsibilities extended to developing a care delivery practice to support the advancement of care delivery innovations that build on Blue companies’ long-standing strong relationships with providers to improve the efficiency and quality of care.
Earlier in her career, Voss was responsible for System-wide implementation of the BlueCard® program, supporting Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies in all areas of operations, from marketing and claims administration to finance and provider contracting.
Before joining the Association in 1993, Voss held various management positions during her 17-year tenure with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois.
She earned an MBA from Loyola University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois.
