The following Assessments were acted on at the October 1, 2009, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Medical Advisory Panel (MAP) meeting:
Carotid Artery Angioplasty and Stenting
The MAP concluded that use of carotid artery angioplasty and stenting with embolic protection of the cerebral circulation for patients with carotid artery stenosis does not meet the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Technology Evaluation Center (TEC) criteria.
Pharmacogenetic Testing to Predict Serious Toxicity from 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) for Patients Administered 5-FU-Based Chemotherapy for Cancer
The MAP concluded that the use of pharmacogenetic testing to predict serious toxicity from 5-FU for patients administered 5-FU-based chemotherapy for cancer does not meet the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Technology Evaluation Center (TEC) criteria.
