Company Culture

We have a rich company history, employing some of the best in the industry, and offer interesting and meaningful work. But there is another aspect to working at BCBSA. We recognize that being a good corporate citizen is a critical building block to our success — simply because it is the right thing to do. We encourage our employees to get involved and support activities that allow for personal growth while giving back to the communities in which we do business.

BCBSA Goes Green

We do business with environmental sustainability in mind. Conservation and recycling programs are in place through our 'Blue Goes Green' program.

Giving Back

Our employees have the opportunity to give back to the community. Below is a sample of some of the initiatives that BCBSA is currently involved in.

  • Special Olympics events
  • On-site Red Cross Blood Drives
  • Lee National Denim Day, supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation
  • Chase Corporate Challenge
  • Letters to Santa
  • Various activities sponsored by Divisions within BCBSA, such as rebuilding playgrounds, making blankets for needy children, and canned goods and back-to-school drives

Commitment to Diversity

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association is an organization that values and promotes diversity in our workplace. BCBSA is committed to providing a work environment in which differences are respected, employees are treated fairly and individual contributions are valued and rewarded.

In 1999, BCBSA created the Diversity Council based on a recommendation of the Diversity Enhancement Task Force. The mission of the Diversity Council is to help create an environment that recognizes and supports the diverse talents and cultural experiences of our employees and one that acknowledges the value of diversity in achieving our corporate goals.
