Frequently Asked Questions
For what locations does BCBSA recruit?
We have two primary locations, Chicago and Washington, D.C., for which we recruit.
I have applied for a job online. When will a representative from BCBSA contact me? How can I check on the status of my application?
When you apply online, your information is routed through the BCBSA database so your credentials can be reviewed against the open position. We will contact you directly when we identify a match based on position requirements and your experience. Please note, due to the volume of applications we receive on a regular basis, we are not able to provide status updates.
I am trying to apply for a position that I see listed, but I am getting an error message when I click on the apply link.
We are diligent in keeping our list of open positions up-to-date and removing positions that have been filled. Should you experience an error message, please note that the position is no longer available and is in the process of being removed from the list.
I am interested in submitting my resume, but do not see a position that fits my background. Where can I send my information for future consideration?
Please complete a profile online via the Candidate Self-Service page, which will set you up in the system to receive alerts when new opportunities become available. You will then be directed to return to the system and submit your interest for an open position.
How can I refer a colleague for an open position?
Please use the "E-mail this job to a friend" link from the Candidate Self-Service page to route a copy of the job description and link to your colleague. The system will prompt you to provide your e-mail address, as well as your colleague's e-mail address.
What are the work hours at BCBSA?
Our primary hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
What type of background checks does BCBSA conduct on applicants?
Upon an offer of employment, a background check is conducted as a condition of employment. We conduct background checks and pre-employment screenings in compliance with all legal and professional standards. This includes a verification of employment history, education, professional licenses and certifications, criminal check and FBI global watch alert.
How can I reset my password?
Please use the "Forgot Password" link from the Candidate Self-Service page and provide your e-mail address. An e-mail will then be sent to you with your User ID and Password information.
