My Blue Community Wins Interactive Media Award

WASHINGTON – "My Blue Community", an online health and wellness social networking community that enables users to share health and wellness information, has been recognized with an Interactive Media Award (IMA) in the Social Networking category.

My Blue Community won an Outstanding Achievement award, the second highest honor bestowed by the IMA.  According to the judges, who are leaders in Web design, advertising, public relations, publishing, news and other industries, My Blue Community represents a very high standard of planning, execution and overall professionalism.  The IMAs recognize the highest standards of excellence in website design and development and honor individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievement.

My Blue Community is a vibrant online community offered by BCBSA that enables health and wellness discussions among users.  More than 30,000 members have already created a profile on My Blue Community and are reading and posting comments on more than 52,000 discussion threads, with topics ranging from pregnancy and exercise, to healthy recipes and disease management.  Members of My Blue Community have access to experts in nutrition, cooking, health coaching and more.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana (BCBSLA) is the latest BCBS company to join My Blue Community, extending the online health and wellness community’s reach to more than 7 million Blue members nationwide.

Enhanced features recently added to My Blue Community include bloggers who write about fitness, parenting and nutrition, expanded user profiles, and a new layout that provides a more interactive user experience.

My Blue Community was created by Regence BlueCross BlueShield and was chosen by BCBSA as the online community solution for the Blue365® program, a voluntary program offered to BCBS companies nationwide.

“Over the past five years we have seen the tremendous, positive impact this feature has had on our members’ overall health and wellness.  Expanding those interactions and relationships across the nation will add exceptional value for Blue members,” said Torben Nielsen, vice president of eBusiness Strategies and Services for Regence.
