September 30, 2013
WASHINGTON – The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association issued the following statement today in response to being selected by the Office of Personnel Management as a Multi-State Plan:
“We’re proud that Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association has been chosen as a multi-state plan on the new exchange marketplaces and are pleased to be working with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on this program. This builds on our strong working relationship with OPM in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, where we provide the most popular plans for federal employees, retirees and their families.
For more than 80 years, our mission has been to provide individuals with affordable, high-quality coverage so that they can get the care they need. Our participation in the multi-state plan program builds on our long-standing commitment to providing consumers with affordable coverage options.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are working around the clock on health reform implementation and are participating in virtually every state across the country. The multi-state option is a way we are offering coverage to our customers on the new exchange marketplaces.”
