Blue Cross And Blue Shield Of Kansas Employees, Foundation Give $242,673 To United Way Campaigns Across The State

TOPEKA – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas employees and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation donated a total of $242,673.01 this fall to United Way campaigns in Topeka, Salina, Wichita and Hutchinson.
“Throughout our 70-year history in Kansas we have taken steps to have a positive impact on the communities in which our members and employees live and work; the well-being of the cities and neighborhoods we serve is a vital component of our corporate culture,” said Andrew C. Corbin, president/CEO of BCBSKS and of the BCBSKS Foundation. “Our commitment to the United Way is unwavering and we thank United Way leaders for creating the vision to move our communities forward.”
In Topeka, where 1,375 employees work, Corbin presented the United Way of Greater Topeka with a check in the amount of $223,630.49. The check represents an employee contribution of $188,630.49 as well as a $35,000 donation from the BCBSKS Foundation.
In Salina, home to 47 BCBSKS employees, donations totaling $6,621.80 have been made to the Salina Area United Way by employees and the Foundation. In Wichita, where the company has 33 people, $10,072.80 has been donated by employees and the Foundation in support of the United Way of the Plains’ annual campaign drive. Fourteen employees in the Hutchinson office raised $2,347.92 for the United Way of Reno County.
