Blue Cross & Blue Shield Of Rhode Island To Offer Free Cholesterol, Glucose And Blood Pressure Screening
February 2, 2012
PROVIDENCE – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is holding a wellness screening event to check cholesterol, glucose and blood pressure levels on Saturday, February 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Hope Clinic/Clinica Esperanza, 60 Valley Street, Providence. All members of the public are invited to attend.
This wellness screening provides a fast and convenient look at vital health indicators, including total cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol), glucose (blood sugar) and blood pressure. Fasting is not required.
It is important for individuals to regularly be screened for cholesterol and glucose levels, as high cholesterol is a leading indicator of heart disease, and high glucose levels may be a sign of diabetes. Additionally, high blood pressure (hypertension) may lead to stroke and/or heart attack if left uncontrolled. Understanding the risks provides the opportunity to make lifestyle changes, and seek treatment to prevent disease and even death.
Registration for this BCBSRI screening event is not required.
