May 18, 2012
PROVIDENCE – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is holding a free wellness screening event to check cholesterol and glucose levels on Saturday, June 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Rhode Island Mission of Mercy dental clinic. This clinic is taking place at the Community College of Rhode Island, Flanagan Campus, 1762 Louisquisset Pike, Lincoln. All members of the public are invited to participate.
This wellness screening provides a fast and convenient look at vital health indicators, including total cholesterol, HDL (good cholesterol) and glucose (blood sugar). Fasting is not required.
It is important for people to be regularly screened for cholesterol and glucose levels. High cholesterol is a leading indicator of heart disease, and high glucose levels may be a sign of prediabetes and diabetes. Understanding the risks provides the opportunity to make lifestyle changes to prevent or manage these conditions.
Registration is not required for this BCBSRI screening.
