Funding Available To Increase Participation In Parent Aware Ratings
Blue Cross Foundation Supports Increased Quality of Early Care and Education Programs
March 25, 2014
EAGAN – The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota Foundation announces availability of funding aimed at increasing participation by licensed family child care programs in the Parent Aware Ratings program and encouraging parents to use the ratings when choosing early care and education programs for their young children.
Up to $300,000 will be awarded, with individual grants of up to $100,000 each. The goal is to focus grant funds in areas with high percentages of children living in poverty. A second year of funding at the same level may be awarded based on performance and progress toward goals. Applicants must have an existing and well-established relationship with licensed family child care programs or the families with young children living in poverty that they serve. Additionally, strong proposals will conduct all activities in a culturally and linguistically competent manner.
“We recognized that high-quality early care and education programs for young children play a critical role in building a foundation for healthy, successful lives,” said Foundation Executive Director Carolyn Link.
Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) community-based organizations located in Minnesota and serving Minnesota communities. For-profit organizations, individual and franchised early care and education providers, school districts and individual K-12 schools are not eligible to apply.
Online applications can be accessed on the Foundation’s website and are due by April 28, 2014 at 4 p.m. Proposals must be submitted using the online application. An informational webinar will be held on April 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. No registration is required.
