Highmark Health Services And St. Clair Hospital Reach Agreement On Multi-Year Contract
July 24, 2013
PITTSBURGH - Highmark Health Services and St. Clair Hospital today announced a multi-year contract that will ensure Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield members have access to the Mt. Lebanon-based hospital and each of its outpatient centers. The new contract will also provide Highmark Health Services members the ability to access the services now offered at St. Clair's new Peters Township Outpatient Center.
"St. Clair is pleased that we have reached a fair and equitable agreement with Highmark," said James M. Collins, president and CEO of St. Clair Hospital. "We are looking forward to continuing to be a participating provider in all Highmark products."
In addition, St. Clair will continue to participate in Highmark Health's Quality Blue Hospital Program that is focused on quality patient care.
"Highmark is pleased that the new contract with St. Clair achieves an important balance, reimbursing the institution to provide necessary care to Highmark Health members, while also recognizing the need to maintain comprehensive and affordable health benefit programs for Highmark Health customers," said Michael Fiaschetti, president of Health Markets for Highmark Health Services. "As health care costs continue to rise, we need to continue to work with all health care providers to reach mutually acceptable agreements that are in the community's best interests."
According to Fiaschetti, Highmark is committed to working with community hospitals to support improvements in health care that will enable them to remain independent and will assure affordable access to quality medical care for its members in community-based settings. In addition, such collaborations with community hospitals boost the economic vitality of the region and preserve stronger, more economically viable communities throughout western Pennsylvania.
