Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield Of New Jersey Launches New Website And Services For Spanish-Speaking Members

NEWARK – In a state in which approximately 18 percent of residents are of Hispanic descent, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has launched a new bilingual service initiative and website dedicated to reaching out to Spanish-speaking members.

The initiative, “Tu Seguro Azul” (Your Blue Insurance), features a dedicated customer toll-free number and new website (www.HorizonAzul.com), available in both Spanish and English, to help Spanish-speaking members with Individual and Small Group policies manage their benefits, find network physicians and providers, and access relevant health information for the Hispanic community.

“Understanding and managing your health insurance benefits can be a difficult challenge for any member, but can be especially daunting for members facing a language barrier as well,” said Peter Morey, Director of Product Innovation and Marketing, Horizon BCBSNJ.  “Tu Seguro Azul helps to break down these barriers and open new lines of communication. Through this outreach initiative, Spanish-speaking members with Individual and Small Group policies will be just a phone call away from specialized customer service in their language, and a click away from a customized new website in both Spanish and English.”

Horizon BCBSNJ is launching a new toll-free number - 855-477-AZUL (2985) - with Spanish-speaking customer service representatives. These service representatives will be available to provide members with culturally relevant information and services to help Spanish-speaking members better manage their health, use their benefits, and address claim issues. The AZUL line is staffed Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST.

At the now-live website, www.HorizonAzul.com, visitors will find:

  • Benefit information for Individual and Small Group market policies
  • Horizon BCBSNJ’s Provider Directory, with added features that denote practices, hospitals and other health care professionals where Spanish is spoken
  • Health information on conditions of special relevance to the Hispanic community
  • Links to health insurance, wellness information and benefit sites that offer Spanish language components
  • FAQs in Spanish and English on plan information
  • Downloadable forms on enrollment and plan/benefit information

As part of this outreach initiative, Horizon BCBSNJ will be sponsoring and bringing health fairs, medical screenings and educational events directly into Hispanic communities, with Hudson County serving as an initial focus point.
