    Blue Cross & Blue Shield Of Rhode Island Awards 2015 Community Health Grant To Build YMCA-Pediatrician Partnership 

    Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is awarding one of six 2015 BlueAngel Community Health Grants (BACHG) to continue a recently piloted partnership between the Newport County YMCA, the pediatricians at Aquidneck Medical Associates and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. Pediatricians will “prescribe the Y” to 36 local children who have a body mass index (BMI) of 85 percent or higher—an indicator of childhood obesity.

    Upstate NY's Low Uninsured Rate Already Exceeds 2024 National Health Care Reform Goal  

    Upstate New York's health insurance coverage rate for residents younger than age 65 continued to eclipse the national rate by more than 7 percentage points in the final year of U.S. Census data collected just before federal and state exchanges were opened for business by federal health care reform, according to a report issued today by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield.

    Blue Cross & Blue Shield Of Rhode Island Awards 2015 Community Health Grant To McAuley Ministries 

    Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is awarding one of six 2015 BlueAngel Community Health Grants (BACHG) to McAuley Ministries. McAuley Ministries will be awarded $30,000 to begin their new Get Fit McAuley! program. Through nutrition education, cooking instruction, and greater access to physical activity, Get Fit McAuley! will encourage healthier lifestyles for formerly homeless mothers and their children living in McAuley Village, as well as Head Start youth in the McAuley Village Child Care Learning Center. Currently, eight in ten preschool-aged children either living at McAuley Village or enrolled in the Village’s childcare program are considered obese.

    Empire BlueCross BlueShield Welcomes The Hospital For Special Surgery To Its Exchange Network 

    Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) has signed an agreement with Empire BlueCross BlueShield to join Empire’s Pathway and Pathway Enhanced Network. These networks are comprised nearly 49,000 physicians and 83 hospitals and serve Empire members who purchase individual insurance plans on the New York State of Health marketplace and small groups and individual members who purchase health insurance plans off of the marketplace.

    Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Michigan Extends Health Plan Advisor Hours For Final Enrollment Weekend Push 

    With less than two weeks left to enroll in health coverage and avoid a $325 or 2% of household income penalty in 2015, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is extending its hours the final weekend of enrollment to help consumers get covered. Starting Friday, Feb. 13, Blue Cross Health Plan Advisors will be available to enroll consumers directly beginning at 8 a.m., and will remain available until 12 midnight each day, ending at midnight on Feb. 15 when the open enrollment period ends.
