    Blue Cross & Blue Shield Of Rhode Island Awards 2015 Community Health Grant To Crossroads - YMCA Collaboration 

    Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is awarding one of six 2015 BlueAngel Community Health Grants (BACHG) toward developing a collaboration between Crossroads Rhode Island and the YMCA Greater Providence and West Bay branches. The $38,000 grant will provide yearlong exercise and nutrition programming to homeless children at the Crossroads Providence Family Shelter, and also to youth residents at the Kingstown Crossings complex. Approximately 300 children and 200 parents will participate.

    Arkansas Blue Cross And Blue Shield Extends Business Hours In Fort Smith Before Open Enrollment Ends On February 15 

    The Open Enrollment Period is ending February 15, and the Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield regional sales and service center in Fort Smith will open for special extended business hours to help customers in west-central Arkansas find affordable coverage before the deadline. Customers also can find out if they qualify for financial assistance to help them pay for their insurance. The Fort Smith location will open its doors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 14.

    Blue Cross & Blue Shield Of Rhode Island Awards 2015 Community Health Grant To Education In Action For Young Star ACTIVE-ists 

    Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is awarding one of six 2015 BlueAngel Community Health Grants (BACHG) to Education in Action for their Young Star ACTIVE-ists, an enhancement to their program Young Star Entrepreneurs program, that will educate local middle school students about nutrition and obesity issues, and teach them how to create solutions for the health and wellness challenges facing their peers. The program is part of the afterschool programming offered by Education in Action, and will include youth from the Cranston, Pawtucket, Central Falls and West Warwick communities.

    Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is awarding one of six 2015 BlueAngel Community Health Grants (BACHG) to continue a recently piloted partnership between the Newport County YMCA, the pediatricians at Aquidneck Medical Associates and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. Pediatricians will “prescribe the Y” to 36 local children who have a body mass index (BMI) of 85 percent or higher—an indicator of childhood obesity.

    Upstate NY's Low Uninsured Rate Already Exceeds 2024 National Health Care Reform Goal  

    Upstate New York's health insurance coverage rate for residents younger than age 65 continued to eclipse the national rate by more than 7 percentage points in the final year of U.S. Census data collected just before federal and state exchanges were opened for business by federal health care reform, according to a report issued today by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield.

    Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Michigan Extends Health Plan Advisor Hours For Final Enrollment Weekend Push 

    With less than two weeks left to enroll in health coverage and avoid a $325 or 2% of household income penalty in 2015, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is extending its hours the final weekend of enrollment to help consumers get covered. Starting Friday, Feb. 13, Blue Cross Health Plan Advisors will be available to enroll consumers directly beginning at 8 a.m., and will remain available until 12 midnight each day, ending at midnight on Feb. 15 when the open enrollment period ends.

    Time is running out for Arkansans to sign up for a health insurance plan in 2015. The Open Enrollment Period ends on February 15, after which, Arkansans will be unable to enroll in an individual health insurance plan through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) (unless they qualify for a special election period).

    Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) is awarding one of six 2015 BlueAngel Community Health Grants (BACHG) to McAuley Ministries. McAuley Ministries will be awarded $30,000 to begin their new Get Fit McAuley! program. Through nutrition education, cooking instruction, and greater access to physical activity, Get Fit McAuley! will encourage healthier lifestyles for formerly homeless mothers and their children living in McAuley Village, as well as Head Start youth in the McAuley Village Child Care Learning Center. Currently, eight in ten preschool-aged children either living at McAuley Village or enrolled in the Village’s childcare program are considered obese.

    Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) has signed an agreement with Empire BlueCross BlueShield to join Empire’s Pathway and Pathway Enhanced Network.
