    BCBSVT Online Enrollment Tool Enables Small Businesses To Renew Their Health Plans 

    Nearly 1,000 small businesses renewing their qualified health plans for 2015 used a new online enrollment tool developed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont to allow full employee choice among exchange products. The businesses were among 3,500 small employer groups that enrolled directly through Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The vast majority of the employers completed their renewals by December 10th, allowing for timely processing, billing and distribution of member materials by their January 1 effective dates.

    Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) is hosting a free, health insurance enrollment and wellness event in Houston on January 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chancellors Family Center. At the Countdown to Coverage: Health Care Enrollment and Wellness Fair, enrollment counselors will provide Texans with in-person enrollment assistance in both English and Spanish. The 2015 health insurance enrollment period opened on November 15, 2014, and will end on February 15, 2015.

    Michigan Elementary Schools Invited To Apply For Program To Improve Health And Prevent Childhood Obesity 

    For the sixth year in a row, Michigan elementary schools are invited to apply for the Building Healthy Communities program, a private-public initiative designed to fight obesity and improve childhood health through school-based wellness programming. The statewide program is a partnership between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, the Michigan Department of Community Health, the Michigan Fitness Foundation, the United Dairy Industry of Michigan, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University's Center for School Health. All public, charter and private elementary schools in the state are encouraged to apply for the program by March 2, 2015.

    Blue Cross And Blue Shield Of Alabama Continues Fight Against Childhood Obesity With Be Healthy School Grant Program 

    In our commitment to help prevent childhood obesity, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is proud to continue its Be Healthy School Grant Program. For the 2015 – 2016 school year, Blue Cross will make available $250,000 and award grants up to $10,000 to 25 schools across the state that enroll students in grades K through six. Since 2012, Blue Cross has awarded more than half a million dollars in 58 Be Healthy School Grants statewide impacting almost 28,000 students.
