Simmons Promoted To Vice President Of Finance, Chief Financial Officer At Blue Cross And Blue Shield Of Kansas

TOPEKA – Ron Simmons has recently been promoted to vice president of finance and chief finance officer (CFO) for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, replacing Beryl "Bebo" Lowery-Born who retired May 31 after 45 years with the company.
In his new role, Simmons oversees the company’s actuarial research, underwriting and contract administration, treasury and accounting, and continuous quality engineering services departments. He also oversees the BCBSKS subsidiary that offers life, short-term disability and long-term disability products.
Simmons has been with BCBSKS for 33 years, and has worked in the company's finance division throughout his entire career. He most recently served eight years as the company’s controller. Prior to that, he served 10 years as manager of cost accounting.
He earned an associate's degree in professional accounting from International Business School/Junior College, Ft. Wayne, IN, and obtained a bachelor's degree in management of health care services through the University of Phoenix. Simmoms holds the designation of fellow from the Academy for Healthcare Management and is a graduate of the company's Leadership Quest program.
Simmons is a member of the Topeka South Rotary and serves on the board for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. He and his wife, Teresa, have three children.
