WellPoint Honored as One of the 2012 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles by National Business Group on Health - Reaching Platinum Status for Wellness Programs’ Measurable Success

INDIANAPOLIS - WellPoint announces its recognition as one of the 2012 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles, one of 66 top employers named by the National Business Group on Health. WellPoint has been named to the list every year since 2008; this year, besting past years’ honors with platinum status. Winners honored with platinum status have established healthy weight and lifestyles programs with measurable success and documented outcomes.
WellPoint has made a strong commitment to helping its associates and their families achieve a healthy lifestyle at work and at home. Incentives and internal messages focus on building a culture of physical and emotional health and encourage personal accountability for health. Recent WellPoint associate survey results indicate 89 percent of respondents agreed that WellPoint wellness programs are helping them take personal accountability for their health. Also, independent analysis indicates that WellPoint associate engagement rates in its disease management programs exceed the national reference rates.
