Here's how BHI will work. Participating Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies will introduce BHI data into benchmarked reports in 2007. Employers that are customers of the participating Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies will receive comprehensive information, comparisons with organizations like their own and specific recommendations for improving their benefit design, including:
- Inpatient, outpatient and professional services data;
- Insights into demographic and risk trends;
- And insights into disease states and high-cost claims experience.
All reporting from the secure, HIPAA-compliant database will be comprised of aggregate, claims-based data utilizing no personal identifiers.
In the future, BHI will provide the foundation for Blue Distinction, our national transparency program.
