BCBSA Tackles Childhood Obesity and Diabetes

According to the CDC, the prevalence of obesity among children ages 6 to 11 has more than doubled in the past 20 years. In an effort to reduce childhood obesity and help prevent future cases of diabetes, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) is launching the Pediatric Obesity and Diabetes Prevention Pilot Program.

On Tuesday, November 17, BCBSA will be introducing the pilot program and a unique physician toolkit that will be launched in five states during a briefing at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

The media briefing will be webcast live beginning at 10:00 a.m. (EST) on November 17, 2009. An archived recording of the event also will be featured on BCBS.com for future viewing.
