Catherine Harvey

As Executive Vice President, Community Programs and Publications, Harvey oversees ADA’s Community Initiatives, Youth Initiatives, Diabetes EXPOs, National Call Center, and Publications. She joined ADA in June 2008.
Harvey has held a variety of senior-level clinical and administrative positions in both community hospitals and academic medical centers and been actively involved with national and local organizations focused on health care-related issues.
Prior to joining ADA, she served as a principal in The Oncology Group, LLC, a cancer-consulting firm that provides services to academic medical centers, hospitals, clinical practices, and health care businesses. She was also the founding executive director of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), a consortium of academic centers that have led the field in clinical guidelines development. As a faculty member in nursing and health administration, she has taught clinical nursing, health ethics, and administrative courses in health care delivery. In the voluntary health organizations arena, Harvey was the founding president of the American College of Oncology Administrators, chaired the Board of Directors of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship and has served on the board of the National Association of Social Workers Foundation. In addition, she has served as a consultant to the Centers for Disease Control in the area of cancer registries and data management, and completed seven years as chair of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control's Cancer Control Advisory Committee.
Harvey has published numerous manuscripts and articles in administrative and nursing journals. She is a frequent lecturer in the area of health care economics, guidelines development, psychosocial and palliative care, and the impact of the changing health care system on health care quality and access.
Harvey holds a Doctoral degree in Public Health from the University of South Carolina and received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Nursing from the University of North Carolina.
