William J. Marino is President and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the state's largest health insurer, providing coverage for more than 3.6 million people.

Bill joined Horizon BCBSNJ as Senior Vice President of Health Industry Services in January 1992, responsible for all aspects of Managed Care operations in New Jersey, as well as Market Research, Product Development, Provider Relations and Health Care Management. He became president and CEO in 1994.

He has more than 35 years of experience in the health and employee benefits field, primarily in managed care, marketing and management. Before joining Horizon BCBSNJ, Bill was Vice President of Regional Group Operations for New York and Connecticut for the Prudential, capping a 23-year career with them.

Bill is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Institute for Health Care Management (NIHCM).

Bill is Chairman of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce. He is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). He also serves as a Board member for the New Jersey Network (NJN) Foundation, and is former Chair of NJN’s Community Advisory Council. In addition, he is on the Boards of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the Newark Alliance, the Newark Museum, the Community Theatre of Morristown, a member of the Liberty Science Center Chairman’s Advisory Council, a member of the Campaign Committee of Saint Vincent Academy and a member of the Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding’s Leadership Council. Bill is a recipient of the 1997 Ellis Island Medal of Honor. In 2007, he received The American Conference on Diversity’s Humanitarian of the Year Award.
