Anthem Blue Cross And Blue Shield Celebrates Local Moms-To-Be At Community Baby Shower

Evansville Community Resource Center teams up with community based organizations and Babies 'R' Us to help prepare local moms for the arrival of their little ones

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - For local moms-to-be, April showers takes on a whole new meaning as Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield hosts a community-wide baby shower today at the Community Resource Center (CRC) in Evansville, Indiana.

Amid the traditional theme of pink and blue, mothers-to-be will be treated to valuable educational information from special guests such as registered nurses and perinatal coordinators who will educate mothers on important topics such as nutrition during pregnancy and how to care for their new baby.  Joining Anthem will be representatives and speakers from Vanderburgh County Health Department and the Tri-State Perinatal Association.  Babies "R" Us, the nation's premier baby products retailer, will also be on hand to provide information on its in-store educational seminars.

"We know that moms-to-be have many questions about their pregnancy and, how they take care of themselves during their pregnancy plays an important role to help ensure they have healthy babies," said Lisa Lant, manager of Anthem's CRC.  "We want to make local moms feel special today, but we also want to make sure they leave today with plenty of information they can use when their baby arrives."  Adding to the informative afternoon will be a presentation on the important topic of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).  According to the Indiana State Department of Health, SIDS is the third leading cause of death to infants under a year old in the state.

Opened in August 2007, the Evansville CRC serves as a vital resource in the community for Anthem members enrolled in Hoosier Healthwise.  Part of a unique community-based model designed and developed by Anthem's State Sponsored Business, the CRC delivers individualized health care coordination to its members and their communities.  The center is staffed by a dedicated, and often, bilingual team, and offers local residents and providers a facility that can design health programs and services to address specific community needs, such as disease-management programs for asthma or diabetes.
