BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Introduces Online Dental Cost Estimator

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - As another tool in the effort to help employers and employees control their health benefit costs, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee has introduced an online dental care cost estimator.
In addition to a host of other consumer tools currently available on bcbst.com, this tool allows a member to budget for routine dental care and may reduce the anxiety associated with seeing the dentist.
"This tool is an extension of our vision to provide consumers with transparent cost and quality information for all of their health care needs, including dental procedures," said Jeff Price, dental program director for BlueCross.
The tool is simple to use and allows members to select a dentist and find the cost of a range of common procedures and dental services including exams, x-rays, cleaning, sealants, fillings, crowns, periodontal services, dentures and extractions.
The dental cost estimator gives the member the actual cost of a particular covered procedure, if that procedure is performed by a participating BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee provider. The tool allows the member to estimate their dental costs and recognize the value gained by using a BlueCross network provider.
