JACKSONVILLE - Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF), Inc. is bringing health care to consumers - where they shop. In their latest effort to offer Floridians a convenient and easy way to buy health care, BCBSF has developed two new Health Cards available for consumer purchase at Winn Dixie® in October and at CVS/pharmacy® stores in November across the state.
Two different cards can be used for insurance and health care service discounts. The "Gift of Health Care" card can be used to purchase health insurance plans and it features our lowest cost guarantee issue product: GoBlue. It will retail for $59 and can be applied accordingly to the plan the customer selects during the activation call. The "FamilyBlue Discount Card" will retail for $19. Good for three months, this card provides discounts on dental and vision care as well as prescriptions for an entire family.
"Our goal is simple - to provide Floridians with easy access to the health care system," said Craig Thomas, vice president and chief marketing officer. "This is a completely unique concept for the health care industry that allows us to reach a broader audience of uninsured and underinsured who would normally go to their local store to purchase pre-paid and gift cards." One of the largest health insurers in Florida, BCBSF is the first in its industry to market this concept - health care products when you need them, where you shop.
The cards can be used by the purchaser or given as a gift. To use the card, consumers simply call a number on the back of the card to activate and enroll. Then shortly they receive a BCBSF member ID card that can be used with participating providers.
