National Walk@Lunch Day
Americans are busy. Between work and other commitments, it can be hard to find extra time for exercise.
That's why Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies from around the country designed a program to complement, not compete with, busy lifestyles. National Walk@Lunch DaySM was created to help people incorporate physical activity into their day.
Mark your calendar: 2009 National Walk@Lunch Day will take place on Wednesday, April 29.
Highlights from 2008 National Walk@Lunch Day:
In 2008, Blue companies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico got workers out of the office and on their feet to participate in National Walk@Lunch Day. Employers and tens of thousands of employees around the country turned a working lunch into a walking lunch.

Benefits of Walking
Physical activity is vital to the well-being of all Americans. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services estimates that just 30 minutes of moderate physical activity, such as a moderate walk, at least five times a week can result in significant health benefits, such as lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes and improving the health of muscles, bones, and joints.
