The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is an association of 36 independent, locally operated Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield companies.
Nisha Lulla is vice president, Office of the President, for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), a national federation of 36 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies. The BCBS System is the nation’s largest health insurer, covering one-in-three of all Americans.
Lulla provides oversight to the Office of the President and the governance process for the BCBSA Board of Directors. She is also responsible for the prioritization and implementation of corporate initiatives across the organization and leads the coordination of executive communications with both internal and Plan constituents, including the Plan Liaison Program.
Prior to joining BCBSA, Lulla was associate vice president for hospital operations at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, where she had leadership accountability for multiple operational areas and strategic oversight for cost management initiatives. She also spent time as a consultant with the Advisory Board Company in Washington, D.C., where she focused on labor and productivity best practice implementation with healthcare providers.
Lulla earned a master’s degree in health finance and management from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the George Washington University.
