The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is an association of 36 independent, locally operated Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield companies.
Petar Naumovski is vice president and chief information security officer (CISO) for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), a national federation of 36 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. The Blue System is the nation's largest health insurer covering one-in-three of all Americans. It is the largest single processor of Medicare claims in the nation and holds the world's largest privately underwritten health insurance contract — the 5.4 million-member Federal Employee Program (FEP).
Naumovski is responsible for maintaining and enhancing BCBSA’s information security program to protect electronic data, which includes all ongoing activities related to the availability, integrity and confidentiality of member, provider, employee and business information in compliance with regulations, laws and the company’s security policies and procedures. He also oversees the implementation of cybersecurity defenses at the Association and promotes cybersecurity across the Blue System. .
Prior to joining BCBSA in August 2015, Naumovski held CISO-level positions in large corporations in the retail, e-commerce and wholesale distribution industries. He recently served as the vice president of information security & compliance at OfficeMax, where he built and operated a global security program. Naumovski started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the security consulting practice focused on delivering security solutions to Fortune 100 companies across most industries, including healthcare, financial services and manufacturing.
Naumovski holds a bachelor of science degree in management information systems from Northern Illinois University and is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).
