That includes everything from award-winning service in traditional health plan models to designing innovative new products and services that meet the needs of a rapidly changing marketplace. Under his leadership, Regence is bringing new tools for customer engagement to help improve member experience, facilitating collaborative partnerships between providers and patients, driving growth for the overall portfolio, and orienting programs to emphasize quality outcomes while minimizing costs. He oversees all areas of the company ranging from Member Services and Claims Administration to Government Programs and the Federal Employee Program as well as Account Management, Insurance Product Development, the Regence market presidents, Health Care Services, and Regence subsidiaries Healthcare Administrators, Inc., Asuris Northwest Health, and BridgeSpan Health Company. Short’s career with Regence began in 2000, when he joined the company in a Finance division role with cross-functional responsibilities across a variety of divisions, with increasing responsibilities for several years. He moved briefly to BlueCross BlueShield of Montana, where he served as chief marketing and underwriting officer. Short returned to Regence in 2009 as president of Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, where he became responsible for Oregon sales, provider contracting, and government and community relations. He has led the overall Regence insurance portfolio since 2011. Short serves on the board of directors for the Oregon Zoo, the Portland Metropolitan Area Boys & Girls Clubs, TriWest Healthcare Alliance and GNS Healthcare. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics and history from Willamette University in Salem, Ore.
