In his role, Steve is accountable for provider and network analytics, network strategy development, governance and operations for strategic provider partnerships, and new care model risk sharing development and execution across the five states. Hamman joined BCBSIL in 1991 and has served in a variety of management roles within the company during his tenure. Just prior to his current role, Steve led the network development, management and provider performance across all commercial market segments, Medicare and Medicaid for Illinois. He received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Mathematics from Colorado College and a master’s in Business Administration in Information Systems from the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University in Chicago. Hamman resides in Naperville, Ill., with his wife and three daughters. He is actively involved in coaching youth sports and is a member of the Boards of Directors of Access DuPage, a non-profit primary health care program providing coverage for the underserved and uninsured; Stride, a non-profit innovative high school outreach and engagement program for at-risk youth; and Innovista Health, a start-up population health managed services organization operating in five states. He also serves in an advisory capacity for the Heritage Group, a venture capital company focused on innovative healthcare start-up investment opportunities.
