How to re-enroll in health insurance coverage for 2015

Published November 13, 2014

Open enrollment for coverage on the health insurance marketplace begins on November 15. If you purchased coverage through the marketplace last year and want to keep it, you will be automatically enrolled in the same or a similar policy without having to take any action. But, it’s important to make sure you update your financial and family information with the government.

This is because the amount of financial assistance you receive from the government must be re-calculated each year to ensure you get the right amount of help with your monthly payments. Changes in your income or family status, like getting a new job, having a baby or getting married, may affect the amount of financial assistance for which you are eligible.

To make sure that you receive the correct amount of financial help from the government when the new year begins on January 1, you need to update this information by December 15, 2014. If you need help, you can count on us to assist you with the process – just contact your local Blue Cross and Blue Shield company.
