BIRMINGHAM – With the end of the open enrollment period fast approaching, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is hosting its first enroll-a-thon to help individuals get the health insurance coverage they need before the February 15 deadline. The enroll-a-thon will be televised on FOX6, tomorrow, January 21, 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
As part of the enroll-a-thon activities, Blue Cross representatives will be available to help consumers understand and select a health plan that best fits their needs and budget. A phone bank, staffed with Blue Cross licensed insurance advisors, will also answer questions and complete enrollments until 10 p.m.
Beginning in 2014, the Affordable Care Act required Americans to obtain health insurance. Individuals who do not have access to health coverage through an employer or a government program, like Medicare or Medicaid, must purchase a health insurance plan on their own. The Blue Cross enroll-a-thon will give Alabamians a unique opportunity to obtain the exact coverage they need.
Consumers can enroll online at AlabamaBlue.com/ActNow or by calling 1-855-511-2581.
