WASHINGTON – Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association president and CEO, Scott P. Serota, issued the following statement today in response to the Senate’s confirmation of Sylvia Mathews Burwell to head the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS):

Her extensive management and budgetary expertise, as well as her strong leadership skills, are assets that will serve her well as she leads HHS in meeting our nation’s healthcare challenges in the coming years.
