HARRISBURG – When Capital BlueCross opens its new Capital Blue store this summer in the up-and-coming Hampden Marketplace in Hampden Township, the store will not only provide patrons with inspiration to live healthy -- it will also please their palates.
Capital BlueCross today announced it is partnering with Healthy You Cafe, which will operate a full-service in-store cafe at its new Capital Blue store. Healthy You Cafe is owned by local restaurant and catering entrepreneur Michele Reber. The Healthy You Cafe at Capital Blue will offer a menu of fresh food and beverages made from organic and locally sourced ingredients.
"Healthy You Cafe believes that amazing food can be healthy and that healthy food can be amazing," said Reber. "It is through such delicious and nutritious food that we will introduce more people to the pleasure of healthy eating. I couldn't be more thrilled to partner with Capital BlueCross, and we can't wait to provide guests of its new Capital Blue store with a one-of-a-kind healthy eating experience."
Featured menu items at the Healthy You Cafe at Capital Blue will include locally-baked breads; a daily soup, sandwich and salad special; and a healthy recipe of the month. The cafe also will offer gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options, and fresh-made breakfast, lunch and dinner items that can be ordered to go.
In addition to sourcing organic products from local farmers, Healthy You Cafe also believes in being a good steward of the environment. The cafe will use biodegradable products whenever possible and minimize the use of non-recyclable materials.
"Healthy You Cafe shares our mission of helping people find their healthy place," said Jenn Natalie, Capital BlueCross senior manager of Retail Strategy. "Whether you visit us for a confidential consultation with one of our knowledgeable Care Guides, or stop in for a signature sandwich or salad at the cafe, what matters to us most is that we provide you with inspiration that helps you become an even healthier you."
The Capital Blue store in the Hampden Marketplace shopping development will be Capital BlueCross' second retail location. The first Capital Blue store opened in 2012 at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley, a shopping destination in the Lehigh Valley, and is serving more than 25,000 visitors a year.
Capital Blue is a store unlike any other. Offering so much more than health insurance, Capital Blue's mission is to empower people – whether they are Capital BlueCross customers or not – to live healthy. It is a one-stop shop for in-person service, health and nutrition consultations, fitness classes, and healthy eating for today's busy lifestyles. Additionally, the store features free Wi-Fi and children can enjoy iPads with health-related games and more in the Kids Zone.
Complementing the store's services are free events such as healthy cooking demonstrations, nutrition seminars, health fairs, book signings and artist receptions.
Customers need not wait for the opening of the new store to start connecting with Capital Blue.
