Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont Accountable Blue Partners Earn Worksite Wellness Awards

Berlin – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont (BCBSVT) is proud to note that 52 businesses participating in the plan’s Accountable Blue program have earned awards for their worksite wellness programs from the Vermont Department of Health and the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

The 2019 Governor’s Excellence in Worksite Wellness awards, which the companies will receive at the Worksite Wellness Conference on March 21, recognize commitment to employee wellness through programs and resources. As Accountable Blue partners, the companies commit to offering flexible benefit design and integrated health and wellness services and incentives to their employees. Accountable Blue’s unique team approach brings together employers, members, providers and BCBSVT to identify an employer’s needs, engage employees and provide appropriate education and resources.

One Accountable Blue partner receiving a Gold Level Award is Howard Center in Burlington. Matthew MacNeil, director of evaluation at Howard Center, credits the program with playing a major role in the organization’s support of employee wellness. “Accountable Blue has been a game changer for us,” MacNeil says. “BCBSVT is truly the leader in primary prevention across the state. Our wellness program at Howard Center has succeeded in large part due to BCBSVT’s guidance, wisdom and support.”

As an Accountable Blue partner with BCBSVT, Howard Center’s 1,600 employees benefit from onsite health and wellness screenings, incentive programs, and the expert guidance of a dedicated health and wellness consultant from BCBSVT. The consultant provides concierge-level support to help Howard Center leadership understand organizational health and behavior modification strategies, which then supports the creation and implementation of effective wellness programs.

The 2019 Worksite Wellness Conference will take place on March 21 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Burlington. The daylong conference includes speakers and workshops on various aspects of employee wellness. Companies will receive their awards at the conference luncheon.
