Doty Promoted To Vice President Of Operations And Individual Sales For Blue Cross And Blue Shield Of Kansas

Rusty Doty has been promoted to vice president of operations and individual sales for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, according to Matt All, president/CEO. 

In his new role, Doty oversees the company's customer service and membership departments, as well as the sales team that works directly with Kansans seeking to purchase their own coverage, both those under age 65 and those seeking Medicare supplement products. 

Doty brings 30 years of varied experience at Blue Cross to his role as vice president. Most recently, he served as director of national/special accounts, product development and market research. He also served as vice president and chief operating officer of Advance Insurance Company of Kansas, the Blue Cross subsidiary that sells life and disability insurance and employee assistance programs. 

He previously served as director of sales and manager of professional relations. He joined the company in 1988, beginning his career in the company's Medicare area before moving into management positions in both Medicare and Medicaid operations. 

Doty holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Washburn University, and is a fellow in the Academy of Healthcare Management. He participated in the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Greater Topeka program in 2005, and is a past ambassador for United Way of Greater Topeka. Doty also served eight years on the school board for Shawnee Heights USD 450, and is a past board member of the Kansas Blue Cross Blue Shield Credit Union. 

Doty and his wife, Annelise, live in Berryton and have three children.
