Regence BlueShield Names Peter McClung Vice President of Sales

Regence BlueShield of Washington is pleased to welcome Peter McClung as vice president of sales effective today, October 29.

McClung comes to Regence from Aetna, where he served as the vice president of sales and service for national accounts in an expansive territory that encompassed the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Colorado, Nevada and Utah. His more than 25-year track record in health care includes senior leadership positions in sales, care management, marketing and operations. In his new role, McClung will be responsible for driving new business development opportunities and leading the Regence Sales team in service of its members and business partners.

“We’re thrilled to announce Peter’s addition to the Regence team,” said Tim Lieb, president of Regence BlueShield. “His proven record of success in planning and implementing business plans and marketing strategies, along with his exceptional recruitment and development skills, will help ensure Regence’s continued growth as we work to create a more affordable and person-focused health care system.”

“Health care touches each and every one of us,” McClung said. “As a Washington company with a century of experience serving its members, I can’t wait to dig in and be a part of transforming health care for our employers, consumers and brokers across this great state.”

A native of Victoria, British Columbia, McClung has been based in Seattle for the past six years while establishing strong roots in the community. He and his wife, Susan, support Hopelink, a nonprofit that helps east Seattle area low-income residents gain independence from poverty and homelessness; and Casa Latina, a nonprofit that advances the economic well-being of Latino immigrants through employment, education and community involvement. McClung holds a bachelor’s degree from Ambassador University.

Founded in 1917, Regence and its affiliated companies employ more than 2,200 people and drive more than $375 million in economic activity throughout Washington, according to ECONorthwest. In addition, Regence contributed $3.2 million to its communities in 2017.
