The plans, which cover consumers age 19 and older, may be purchased at any time throughout the year and do not require the purchase of an Independence medical plan. In addition, consumers who choose to purchase dental and vision care plans at the same time may receive a discount on their vision care plan rates.

    Today, Independence Blue Cross (Independence) recognizes National Walk @ Lunch Day, a national effort sponsored by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association to demonstrate how easy it is to take a walk at lunch and fit exercise into the busiest of schedules.     With the cold winter behind us, it’s time to celebrate the warmth of spring by getting outside and going for a walk. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont (BCBSVT) is honored to once again celebrate National Walk @ Lunch Day, now in its eighth year. National Walk @ Lunch Day is an annual health promotion hosted by BCBSVT and other Blue Cross and Blue Shield organizations across the country. Last year, more than 22,000 residents laced up their walking shoes and hit the pavement. This year, BCBSVT expects about 35,000 Vermonters will take part.
