Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Statement on Settlement Agreement
WASHINGTON – Today, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies reached an agreement to settle a long-running legal dispute. The following statement related to the class action settlement may be attributed to a Blue Cross Blue Shield Association spokesperson:
“This settlement ends a long-running legal challenge to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association license agreements and related rules. We deny the allegations made in the lawsuit. However, to reach a settlement and put years of litigation behind us, we have agreed to make some operational changes and a monetary payment to the provider class involved in the case.
Our members and health care provider partners can rest assured that Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies continue to be strong and ready to deliver exceptional services. We remain committed to providing access to affordable, high-quality care and improving the health of the communities we serve, just as we have for 90 years."
