Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Statement on the First Momnibus Bill Signed into Law
WASHINGTON – Blue Cross Blue Shield Association President and CEO Kim Keck issued the following statement today after President Biden signed the Protecting Moms Who Served Act into law, the first bill in the Momnibus package to be signed into law.
“We are pleased the president signed the Protecting Moms Who Served Act into law today, which will help ensure veterans will have the maternal health care they need and deserve. This bipartisan legislation is the first of 12 bills in the Black Maternal Health Caucus’ Momnibus package to be signed into law. The Momnibus package is a meaningful set of proposals aimed at improving the health outcomes of pregnant women and mothers, especially women of color, who are two-to-three times more likely to die from pregnancy related complications than their white counterparts. This law is a promising first step, and we look forward to working with Congress to pass the rest of the Momnibus package to help save lives and advance health equity.”
