Monica Auciello is senior vice president, chief legal officer and general counsel of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), a national federation of 33 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies. Today, one in three Americans is covered by the Blue System.

Auciello has more than 20 years of health insurance experience, with a deep understanding of health insurance laws, regulations and policy. Throughout her career, she has led a wide variety of functional areas, including legal, regulatory, compliance, risk, privacy and security, and government relations.

Prior to joining the Association, Auciello served as vice president, general counsel and chief compliance & risk officer of Sidecar Health Insurance Company, which focuses on building a more consumer-oriented approach to health insurance—driving affordability, accessibility and transparency for consumers.

Previously, she served as senior vice president of legal affairs & policy and general counsel at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island and assistant general counsel and privacy officer at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont.

Auciello received her law degree from Vermont Law School and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Maine.
