Principles: affordability solutions for the Health of America
For 2025 affordability data and current solutions to reduce health care costs, see Affordability solutions for the health of America.
As rising costs put more Americans at risk of not being able to afford their health care, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) has put forth a comprehensive proposal—Affordability Solutions for the Health of America—to policymakers to drive legislative change. These proposals would help improve competition among health care providers, enhance consumer access to lower-cost prescription drugs and ensure patients receive high-quality, care at the right time and place. In total, BCBSA’s affordability solutions would reduce health care costs by $767 billion over 10 years.
