CHICAGO – Sean Robbins returns to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), bringing with him decades of experience in health insurance, economic development, and government leadership.
As BCBSA's executive vice president of Business Operations, Robbins will oversee the Federal Employee Program, which covers 5.7 million federal employees, retirees and their families. He will also lead Market Solutions, which is responsible for developing national solutions spanning commercial, government, individual and labor lines of business.
“Sean brings strong business acumen spanning health plan operations, market strategy, and public policy, and his leadership will be critical as we advance solutions that address shared challenges,” said Kim Keck, BCBSA’s president and chief executive officer. “Sean also has a personal understanding of the Blues' superpower of being deeply rooted in their communities and will work with BCBS plans to advance and amplify Blue System efforts for collective success.”
Robbins previously served as BCBSA’s chief corporate affairs officer, leading national efforts to shape public health care policy on behalf of the BCBS System, as well as brand strategy and marketing, strategic communications, and partnerships—ensuring that Blue Cross and Blue Shield remained the most trusted brand in health care.
Robbins has also held key leadership roles within the Blue Cross and Blue Shield system, including president of Regence Blue Shield of Idaho and senior vice president of public affairs and policy at Cambia, where he led the company’s political, legislative and regulatory strategy.
Most recently, Robbins was the chief executive officer of Cushman & Wakefield | Boerke, a commercial real estate firm, which specializes in office, industrial and retail investment to support the economic health of Wisconsin communities.
A Wisconsin native, Robbins earned a business degree from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.
