Helping families focus on what matters most

Ava needed a bone marrow transplant. It was overwhelming for her family, but they weren’t alone. Ava’s father, Tony, remembers how a local case manager from their Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) plan checked in regularly. “She asked me if there's anything that they could do for me or any resources that they could provide during this time. I’ve never had someone do that for us,” he said.

With decisions and approvals that had to happen quickly, the case manager ensured the family could stay focused on Ava and her care instead of worrying about paperwork or payment.

“Blue Cross and Blue Shield had our back.”

How do BCBS companies support families facing a healthcare crisis?

When families face a health crisis, that support shows up in real ways. Here’s how we deliver it across care and coverage:

Quality over quantity of care

We're working with a network of providers who are measured on consistent national performance standards and rewarded for keeping patients healthier, not for the volume of tests and procedures. Through the Blue High Performance Network®, we deliver better health outcomes while reducing total cost of care by an average of 11%.

Helping you find low-cost care

Blue Distinction® Centers+ connect members to high-quality specialty care at lower costs. For example, members save 23% on spine surgery and 30% on knee/hip replacements.

Common-sense policy solutions

Our roadmap to reduce costs by $1 trillion aims to curb excessive hospital markups, lower drug prices and streamline administrative burdens.
