Leading Research, Improving Healthcare

The Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Alliance for Health Research was established to engage leading U.S. healthcare researchers in an ongoing effort to improve the health of Americans. Through secure data environments, researchers explore key questions and issues using Blue Cross Blue Shield Axis®, the industry’s largest resource for healthcare claims, provider and cost data. These environments enable researchers to conduct complex analytics in their pursuit of solutions for better health and healthcare. The researchers involved in this program come together periodically to share insights and discuss critical health and health system issues, helping advance improvements in healthcare nationwide.

Information Drives Innovation

What do America's top researchers need in order to improve health and healthcare? Information. Blue Cross Blue Shield provides relevant data—removing all identifying information for privacy and security—that allows researchers to conduct complex analytics and share their findings, collaborating to develop innovative solutions to critical issues.

The BCBS Alliance for Health Research is committed to:

  • Creating a collaborative community of researchers
  • Promoting dialogue to drive synergies across research efforts
  • Publicizing findings to drive innovation and advancement
