Brian Bauer is vice president of application solutions for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), a national federation of independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies.

Bauer is responsible for implementing and managing all BCBSA information technology systems that connect across the 34 BCBS companies. This includes supporting the core software and applications that provide health care services to our members. In this role, he is focused on modernizing BCBSA information technology systems and applications to better serve our members’ needs and enhance their experience with their BCBS company.

With more than 25 years of experience in information technology, Bauer most recently served as associate vice president of member and provider technology services at Healthcare Services Corporation (HCSC), where he spearheaded the development and operations of a portfolio of applications in support of member health and wellness. Prior to that, he held the position of HCSC’s executive director of enterprise architecture, leading the development of the organization’s enterprise architecture roadmap to advance key business areas through the information technology infrastructure.

Bauer received his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Indiana University.
