Vanessa Hatch

Vice President, Federal Employee Program Clinical Operations

Vanessa Hatch is vice president, Federal Employee Program clinical operations, for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), a national federation of independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies. Today, one in three Americans is covered by the Blue System.

Hatch is responsible for care delivery, pharmacy programs, clinical operations and member services for the Association’s Federal Employee Program (FEP), which serves 5.7 million members among federal employees, retirees and their families. Hatch has a strong track record of strategic analysis and planning, clinical program development and execution of strategic initiatives, combining business acumen, market intelligence, clinical knowledge and analytic skills to successfully achieve key business objectives.

Previously, Hatch served in different executive leadership roles at the Association where she oversaw multiple clinical workstreams in FEP, including pharmacy programs, clinical operations and quality, care delivery implementation, vendor management, clinical programs, and pharmacy benefit design and strategy.

Before joining BCBSA in 2018, Hatch was vice president of clinical solutions for Pharmaceutical Strategies Group (PSG), a full-service pharmacy benefit consultancy, where she was responsible for providing clinical and operational leadership across a variety of clients including health plans, employer groups and hospital pharmacy systems. Prior to that, she held positions as vice president of pharmacy benefits consulting with The Segal Group and director of pharmacy programs for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master’s degree in business from Johns Hopkins University and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Shenandoah University.
