Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Announces Brian Bauer as New Vice President of Application Solutions

CHICAGO – Today, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) announced Brian Bauer as its new vice president of application solutions.  

In his role, Bauer is responsible for implementing and managing all BCBSA information technology systems that connect across the 34 Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. This includes supporting the core software and applications that provide health care services to our members and modernizing BCBSA information technology systems and applications to better serve their needs.

“Brian’s leadership will be instrumental in delivering transformative solutions to enhance the digital experience for our members, empowering them with greater access and control over their health care journey,” said Christina Fisher, executive vice president and chief financial officer at BCBSA. “We are excited to have Brian join us to better leverage technology and drive meaningful advancements that will ensure our technology solutions align with the evolving needs of members and the health care industry.” 

Bauer is a respected leader with more than 25 years of experience in information technology. Prior to joining BCBSA, Bauer served as executive director of enterprise architecture at Healthcare Services Corporation before getting promoted to associate vice president of member and provider technology services, where he spearheaded the development and operations of a portfolio of applications in support of member health and wellness. 

Bauer is based in BCBSA’s Chicago office and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
