Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Bob Kolodgy is executive vice president and chief financial officer for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), a national federation of 35 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies. Today, one in three Americans is covered by the Blue System.
Kolodgy is responsible for the Association's finance, licensure, enterprise information technology, enterprise program management and information security areas. He also oversees the National Employee Benefits Administration, which manages over $12 billion in retirement plan assets for 37 participating BCBS entities nationwide. In addition, he has administrative responsibility for three venture investment funds totaling $885 million in committed capital from more than 34 BCBS entities. These funds invest in promising emerging companies of strategic relevance to BCBS companies.
Throughout his tenure at the Association, Kolodgy has held a variety of leadership roles, including oversight of the Federal Employee Program (FEP) and overall accountability for BCBS brand strategy and protection.
Prior to joining BCBSA, Kolodgy held a number of executive positions with ProMedica Health System, an integrated health system with more than 280 service sites and annual revenue of $1.5 billion, including serving as Chief Strategist for the health system and Senior Vice President of operations and finance for ProMedica’s health plan subsidiary, Paramount Health Care. Earlier in his career, Kolodgy was a hospital chief financial officer and senior manager at Deloitte Consulting.
Among professional and civic affiliations, he is President of Blue Venture Partners II, LP, Chair of the Board of the Plan Investment Fund, Inc., and serves on the Blue Health Intelligence Board and the National Employee Benefits Committee. He is a founding board member of Sewhope, an Ohio-based non-profit group working to improve health in Guatemala, and former chairman of the Board of Trustees for Notre Dame Academy.
Kolodgy earned a bachelor’s degree from Miami University and an M.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, magna cum laude. He is a lifetime member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
