As rising costs put more Americans at risk of not being able to afford their health care, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) has put forth a comprehensive proposal—Affordability Solutions for the Health of America—to policymakers to drive legislative change. These proposals would help improve competition among health care providers, enhance consumer access to lower-cost prescription drugs and ensure patients receive high-quality, care at the right time and place. In total, BCBSA’s affordability solutions would reduce health care costs by $767 billion over 10 years.
