Blue Cross and Blue Shield Companies Work to Advance Affordability Solutions to Protect Patients from Rising Health Care Costs

WASHINGTON – Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Sean Robbins issued the following statement today in response to President Biden’s speech on lowering health care costs for Americans.

“Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies are working together with local and national partners, employers, and consumer advocates to improve affordability. Rising health care prices are hindering Americans’ ability to get the care they need when they need it. The No Surprises Act has already protected millions of Americans from receiving costly surprise medical bills from providers—a huge win for patients—and we’re eager to continue working with the administration and Congress on what’s next, driving more solutions that promote competition, lower prescription drug costs, and prioritize high-quality care. Ensuring comprehensive, affordable and equitable coverage and care for all Americans remains our top priority.”

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is an association of 35 independent, locally operated Blue Cross and/or Blue Shield companies.
